14th December 2024 – Dan Grading Event
Today, Way Taekwondo proudly hosted a Dan Grading event in Ashford, Kent, UK.
The examination panel consisted of:
Master Manishankar Sunwar (7th Dan), Ocean Taekwondo Academy
Master Jayanta Thapa (6th Dan), Himalayan Tiger Taekwondo Academy
Master Dhiraj Gurung (6th Dan), Wisdom Taekwondo
Master Ista Gurung (6th Dan), Way Taekwondo
A total of 23 Poom/Dan candidates from the southern region of the UK participated, following the latest syllabus from the UK Kukkiwon Office. The highest rank awarded during this grading was 4th Dan.
A particularly inspiring moment came when Mr. David John Ford, a 70-year-old practitioner from Fighting Spirit Taekwondo, successfully earned his 1st Dan. His achievement serves as a source of motivation for everyone in the Taekwondo community.
This event was one of the most successful and memorable Dan Gradings we’ve ever had. Congratulations to all the candidates for their dedication and effort. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to all the parents for their unwavering support.

During the presentation, Master Manishankar Sunwar took a moment to recognise and congratulate Master Dhiraj Gurung and Master Ista Gurung on their recent promotion to Master, 6th Dan through the British Taekwondo High Dan Grading. Additionally, he congratulated Master Colin Larkin for his outstanding achievement in winning a silver medal at the 2024 World Championships in Hong Kong last week.
