Coronavirus Advice From British Taekwondo

Hi everyone,

We appreciate the level of concern at the moment regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and the potential impacts it could have on BT members and planned activities.

British Taekwondo are monitoring the government advice on this issue daily and consulting with World Taekwondo and World Taekwondo Europe partners.

This is a fast moving situation that could change at any time.

We hope the following advice is helpful:

INTERNATIONAL OPENS

For those of you planning to travel overseas to international open competitions in the next few weeks, please keep checking:

  • the event websites of the host organising committee for updates
  • the advice coming from the British government in relation to travel restrictions to that country
  • your airline or ferry company’s website for updates
  • any health advice coming from authorities for whilst you are there

We would also recommend that you study the terms and conditions of any travel insurance you may hold, and understand what you are covered for in the event that you cannot travel or participate.

WORLD POOMSAE CHAMPIONSHIPS

This event, planned for mid-May in Denmark is still going ahead, but this situation could change.

Team selections and planning for participation in the event will continue as normal, however, a slight delay in the booking of flights and accommodation is prudent under the circumstances, until the situation becomes clearer.

For those affected – please keep in touch with our Poomsae performance team who are monitoring the situation on a daily basis.

DOMESTIC COMPETITIONS

Government advice is to continue as normal at the moment, but this situation could change.

For hosts, we would recommend that you discuss potential scenarios with your venues and service providers as soon as possible, so that you are prepared for any potential restrictions or cancellations should the situation deteriorate.

For participants, keep checking on the entry portals for the events you plan to attend,  and listen to the latest advice coming from government agencies.

Anyone with general concerns about the Coronavirus should follow government advice, which is constantly being updated.

This includes advice for travellers coming back to the UK from specified areas and countries as well as those planning to travel.

If you have any medical concerns regarding Coronavirus, please contact your doctor by telephone or call NHS direct on 111.
