Welcome to WayTKD.com. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of the Way Taekwondo website and the services we provide.
By accessing this website and/or registering for our classes, you accept these terms and conditions in full. Do not continue to use WayTKD.com if you do not accept all of the terms and conditions stated on this page.
1. Definitions
- “Club”, “We”, “Us” refers to Way Taekwondo, based in Ashford, United Kingdom.
- “You”, “Member”, “Student” refers to the person accessing this website, attending classes, or registering for membership.
- “British Taekwondo” refers to the national governing body with whom we are affiliated.
2. Health, Safety & Liability
Taekwondo is a physical contact sport that involves inherent risks. By using this website to book classes or attend training, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Assumption of Risk: You understand that martial arts training involves strenuous physical activity and physical contact. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation, including but not limited to bumps, bruises, scrapes, and other injuries.
- Medical Disclosure: It is your responsibility to inform the instructors of any medical conditions, injuries, or illnesses that may affect your ability to train safely before the class begins.
- Waiver: To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Way Taekwondo, its instructors, and officials shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage caused to you or your property while attending classes, grading events, or competitions, unless caused by our proven negligence.
3. Membership & Insurance
Grading Eligibility: Gradings will be approximately every 3 to 4 months and will depend on the student’s attendance record, attitude, technical abilities within their belt grade syllabus, and at the discretion of the instructors.
British Taekwondo Licence: For insurance purposes, after an initial probation period of 4 weeks, all students must complete and sign a British Taekwondo membership form prior to any further training sessions.
Validity: British Taekwondo Membership is valid for one year. All students must have a valid British Taekwondo licence in order to be allowed to participate in any club training sessions. It is your responsibility to ensure that it is renewed prior to its expiration.
4. Fees, Payments & Refunds
- Grading Fees: Fees for Kup (coloured belt) and Dan (black belt) gradings are invoiced separately. Payment must be made by the deadline stated on the invoice (typically via bank transfer).
- Late Fees: We reserve the right to charge a late fee or refuse entry to a grading exam if payment is not received by the deadline.
- Refunds:
- Classes/Membership: Membership fees paid to British Taekwondo are subject to their refund policy.
- Grading Exams: Grading fees are generally non-refundable. If you are unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances (e.g., serious illness), a partial refund or credit for the next grading may be offered at the discretion of the Chief Instructor. No-shows without notice will not be refunded.
5. Club Code of Conduct & Safety
By attending classes at WayTKD, you agree to the following rules. Failure to adhere to these may result in disciplinary action or expulsion from the club without refund.
Respect: Respect all seniors and fellow students alike, as well as all equipment and the venue.
Uniforms: Unless prior permission has been granted, a WT approved Dobok uniform and grade coloured belt must be worn during club training sessions in the Dojang. During the hot summer months, a Way TKD T-shirt may be worn.
Safety Equipment: For safety purposes, WT approved protection equipment must be worn for any contact training such as sparring, one-step, and self-defence. This includes a minimum of a Bodyguard, Head guard, Gum shield, and Groin guard.
Jewellery: No jewellery or accessories are to be worn during training; finger and toe nails should be kept trimmed to prevent injury to self and others.
Hydration: It is recommended and essential for hydration to bring sufficient water or sports drinks (not energy drinks) for drinking during breaks.
Etiquette: It is important to watch and listen to your instructor during explanations. Do not distract others, and raise your hand if you have a question, waiting until the instructor has finished explaining.
Discipline: Misconduct or disrespect in the Dojang (running around, horseplay, hitting or pushing others, or any misuse of the Martial Art) will result in disciplinary action.
Mobile Phones: During training sessions, ensure mobile phones are either on silent mode or switched off to avoid any disruption, unless prior authorisation has been granted by the instructor.
